October 2007 Archives

It's time for our second contest of the week! This time, up for grabs is a 100g skein of Claudia Handpainted Yarn Short Sport in Summer Rose:

The contest: Guess the exact number of skeins of yarn (all lines/colors) we have in stock at the store as of today. Post your guess as a comment to this entry. The person who guesses closest wins the free skein of Claudia Handpainted Yarn Short Sport. If more than one person guesses the correct answer, we'll draw a name randomly from the winners! Good luck, and don't forget to put in your name suggestion for the Schaefer Heather mystery colors in the entry before this one! Edited to add: I should have clarified - you are guessing the total number of skeins of yarn in stock in the store, not just the one pictured above! Yes, you can change your guess now! :-)

The Schaefer Yarn Company just added a new sock yarn to its line of luxury fibers, Heather. Heather is a sumptuous blend of merino superwash wool, silk, and nylon, and Eat.Sleep.Knit is one of the first shops to carry it!

Heather is available in all of Schaefer Yarn Company's wool colorways, but we are lucky enough to have received a few special, one-of-a-kind colorways that have no names! I firmly believe every yarn deserves a name, so our first contest will be to name the six mystery colors of Heather we have in stock. The winner will receive a skein of this gorgeous yarn in the color of his or her choice!

Here's how it works: Post a comment to this entry with your name suggestions for the six yarns pictured below. You can suggest a name for just one color, all of them, or anywhere in between! Just be sure to identify which yarn you are suggesting a name for! We'll randomly select a winner from all of the submitted entries, and if we use your name, we'll automatically give you a $5 credit towards a future order. That means six lucky winners will receive $5 in store credit, and one very lucky winner will get a free skein of Schaefer Heather.

After months of planning, researching, organizing, and, of course, buying yarn, it's finally here - what started out as an idea in the back of my head has turned into Eat.Sleep.Knit, and we are officially open for business! Thank you to all of my friends and family who have spent the last few months giving their opinions, testing my ideas and the website, and listening to me talk about nothing but yarn! Thanks especially to my husband, who has spent just about all of his "off-time" programming the website for me these last few weeks, and who has let me fill our house with yarn without batting an eye.

In addition to the amazing yarns we already have in stock, we have a lot of exciting things coming up at Eat.Sleep.Knit, including a shipment of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock and Lion & Lamb which should be in sometime in the next two weeks, and a very large order of Dream In Color yarn (Smooshy, Classy, and Fatty!) which is slated to be shipped to us just after Thanksgiving! I'm also communicating with several indie suppliers of yarns, patterns, and notions, and will hopefully be able to share the details with all of you soon.

Starting Monday, we'll be having a weeklong Grand Opening event, including 10% store-wide all week, an additional 15% off for shoppers who sign up for our newsletter, and several contests on the blog where you can win even more free yarn! We want Eat.Sleep.Knit to be a fun place to shop online and be inspired to try new yarns, new techniques, or just meet other yarn-obsessed people - let us know what we can do to make your experience even better.

Erin, Eat.Sleep.Knit-ter Extraordinaire

As you can see, the blog is still under construction - we hope to have it up and running on Saturday, October 27th! Once we are set to start blogging along, I'll be holding the very first Eat.Sleep.Knit contest for free yarn! Stay tuned!
